Chocolate Hills of Bohol, Philippines is one of the tourist attractions of the country and of the world.
There are at least 1268 hills that are almost with the same shape and are 30 to 50 meters high. Chocolate
Hills are spread over an area of more than 50 sq. kilometers. These
hills are usually covered with green grass but it will turn into
chocolate brown during dry season.
Chocolate Hills' formation is very vague; there are theories and stories about what happened to these intriguing hills.
One
legend says it all started when two giants threw stones and sand at
each other in a fight which lasted for days. Time came when when they
are exhausted and decided to be friends with each other. They didn't
bother to clean their mess and they both left the island.
Another
story which is more romantic is the love story between Arogo and Aloya.
Arogo is a young and strong giant who fell in love with an ordinary
mortal girl called Aloya. The girl he love died. Arogo cried and cried.
His tears turned into hills which is an everlasting proof of his grief.
According
to the experts, Chocolate Hills are weathered formations of a kind of
marine limestone on top of an impermeable layer of clay.
